The Boston Red Sox are certainly a team to keep an eye on at the winter meetings this week. They have already made some big-time pitching additions, but could still be looking to make a splash in the position player market.

Pete Alonso is one of the best free agents available this winter, and ESPN’s Jorge Castillo predicted that he would sign with the Red Sox at the winter meetings.

“Craig Breslow, Boston’s chief baseball officer, has been clear about his desire to acquire a right-handed slugger for the middle of the order,” wrote Castillo on Monday. “Not many players are better qualified for that role than the right-handed-hitting Alonso, whose 264 home runs since his debut in 2019 are the third most in baseball behind Aaron Judge and (Kyle) Schwarber.”
