ORLANDO, Fla. — The wait outside Cooperstown's doors continues for Don Mattingly.
On Sunday, the iconic Yankees first baseman and captain fell short in his latest bid to enter baseball's Hall of Fame by the 16-member Contemporary Baseball Era Committee.
Mattingly, 64, had previously missed induction on this ballot by four votes in 2022. He received six of the necessary 12 votes to be inducted from the 16-member committee.
