WATER VALLEY, Miss. (WMC) - Deputies with the Lafayette County Sheriff’s Office announced an arrest after shots were fired outside Anchor Baptist Church on Highway 7 South on Sunday.
According to the sheriff’s office, deputies responded to a shots-fired call at about 10 a.m. Church members told investigators that a man sitting in the passenger seat of a silver SUV shouted profanity and obscenities at congregation members and then fired several shots into the air with a handgun.
A short time later, deputies located the vehicle and took the passenger, 34-year-old Christopher Ray Reed, into custody. Deputies said Reed appeared to be intoxicated at the time of the arrest.
Fortunately, no one was injured in the incident.
