The captain of the London Knights is heading to Canada’s world junior training camp.
Sam O’Reilly was among 15 forwards and 27 players announced Monday to take part in the final roster selection process starting Friday in Niagara Falls. Locally, Jr. Knights grad Jett Luchanko of the Brantford Bulldogs and Kitchener Rangers defenceman Cameron Reid, from Aylmer, were also named to the camp.
“It’s something I’ve been looking forward to and working towards for a while here now,” said O’Reilly, the 19-year-old Tampa Bay Lightning prospect. “It’s a step to get an invite, but I’ve got to go there and play my game and make the team (heading to Minnesota).
“I’m looking forward to it.”
O’Reilly missed the summer evaluation showcase due to injury, but has been arguably Hockey Canada’s most closel
