President Donald Trump is criticizing a Democratic member of the House of Representatives for not switching parties after Trump pardoned the congressman and his wife in a federal bribery and conspiracy case, according to CNBC .

Trump pardoned the House member, Rep. Henry Cuellar of Texas, earlier this month. He had been scheduled to go on trial next year.

Cuellar is a conservative Democrat and plans to run for reelection to his seat. He was indicted in the federal bribery case in 2024, but remained in the House.

“Such a lack of LOYALTY,” Trump wrote on Truth Social , suggesting he might have expected the pardon to boost the GOP’s House majority heading into the 2026 midterm elections, according to CNBC.
