GRAND ISLAND, Neb. (KSNB) - A Grand Island father is facing a child abuse charge after his infant son had to be treated at Children’s Nebraska in Omaha.

Jovanny Garcia Garcia, 30, is charged with one count of intentional child abuse resulting in injury. This is a class 2 felony.

According to the arrest affidavit, investigators with the Grand Island Police Department were contacted by a doctor at Children’s Nebraska in Omaha last week.

The doctor told police that they had a two-week-old boy in their care from Grand Island, who was transferred on Dec. 2 from CHI Health St. Francis.

The affidavit said the Children’s Nebraska doctor revealed the findings, which showed that the child had six rib fractures that were at least a week old, fractures around the knees, a brain bleed less than a w
