A Florida judge followed a jury's recommendation and sentenced a man to death for murdering his pregnant girlfriend because she refused to get an abortion in what prosecutors described as an "execution-style killing."

On Friday, the judge officially sentenced 23-year-old Donovan L. Faison to die for the 2022 murder of 18-year-old Kaylin Fiengo in Sanford, which is about 25 miles north of Orlando, prosecutors said . Jurors voted 11-1 in October to recommend that Faison receive the ultimate punishment . He was convicted of first-degree murder and the killing of an unborn child.

Prosecutors told jurors that the killing met several aggravating factors required to impose the death penalty, including the fact that Faison killed a child younger than 12 while committing the capital felony of mur
