WILLOUGHBY, Ohio — Shamar Steele, one of the five people arrested for the fatal shooting of Damonte Perry near The Hamlets apartment complex in Willoughby in September, pleaded guilty during a hearing Monday in Lake County Common Pleas Court.
Steele, 20, pleaded guilty to charges of receiving stolen property and improperly handling firearms in a motor vehicle. Two other charges of receiving stolen property and improperly furnishing a firearm to a minor were dropped.
According to court records, Steele will be sentenced by Lake County Common Pleas Court Judge John O'Donnell on Jan. 9. He faces a maximum prison sentence of 36 months and a possible $10,000 fine.
