Two Air Transat planes lifted off the tarmac at London International Airport over the weekend filled with sun worshippers headed to a warm-weather destination.

They may be the last ones for a while with a strike threatening the airline and its future service from London.

Air Transat pilots may walk off the job Wednesday after their union gave 72-hour strike notice to the company on Sunday, just as the holiday travel season nears.

“Hopefully negotiations continue and they find a resolution prior to strike action, but if (Wednesday) comes and it’s not resolved, flights will be cancelled,” said Scott McFadzean, the airport’s chief executive.
