WASHINGTON, N.C. (WITN) - A Georgia sex offender is behind bars after police say he failed to register his address after moving.

Police say they were notified last Monday of a possible unregistered sex offender who relocated to Washington without notifying Georgia authorities.

Two days later, 49-year-old Maurice Barksdale was charged with failing to register as a sex offender.

He is being held in the Beaufort County Jail on a $6,000 bond.
