GRAND FORKS — The injuries to UND junior edge Lance Rucker don't appear to be long-term, Fighting Hawks coach Eric Schmidt said Monday at his season-ending press conference.
Rucker was injured during last Saturday's 31-13 loss at Tarleton State in Stephenville, Texas. After breaking UND's single-season sack record earlier in the first half, Rucker was injured when he took teammate Kaden Vig's knee to the midsection while the two edges were meeting in the offensive backfield while rushing the passer.
Rucker needed medical attention on the field before leaving under his own power. Rucker didn't come out of the halftime locker room at the same time as his teammates. He emerged on the sideline briefly during the third quarter before exiting the field with a UND doctor.
