PORTERVILLE, Calif. -- Five people, including four children, are dead following a house fire in Porterville, California.
The fire happened just after 11 p.m. Sunday at a home in the area of S. Indiana Street.
Crews arrived at the home and found flames, quickly starting search and rescue operations.
Despite efforts to save everyone, all five people inside the home died.
"This is a devastating loss for the family and for our community," said Fire Chief Bryan Cogburn.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
No firefighters were injured.
The identities of the five people have not been released.
