A police cordon in West Derby Village after an alleged assault.

Two suspects have been charged after a man was seriously injured outside a pub. An unnamed man, aged 35, suffered serious head injuries following a fight in the early hours of Sunday outside the Hare and Hounds pub on Mill Lane in West Derby .

The man remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition. Merseyside Police detectives have since charged two people in connection with the alleged assault.

Shaun Black, 40 and of Edge Lane Drive in Old Swan , and Christopher Peterson, 43 and of Fordlea Road in West Derby, have both been charged with section 18 grievous bodily harm with intent . The pair have been remanded in custody to appear before magistrates' court on Tuesday.
