SUNBURY — In less than 23 days, Northumberland County Judge Hugh Jones will clear out his office, say his goodbyes to colleagues he has worked with for the past three decades and move on to the next chapter of his life as he formally becomes a senior judge in January.

Jones, 75, who entered the county as an assistant chief clerk in 1976, is retiring from the bench, effective Dec. 31, and will take on his new role as senior judge in Northumberland, Snyder and Union counties.
