2025 marks a new record for cases of gunfire in London in a single year after police say there were six shootings in a 72-hour period.

Five homes across the city were struck by gunfire – one of them shot twice in less than 24 hours –between Friday and Monday in street gang-related violence, police said.

“Investigators currently believe all six shootings to be connected,” deputy police Chief Paul Bastien said in a video posted on social media.

“Thankfully none of these incidents resulted in anyone being physically injured, but that does not diminish the great danger posed by these acts. We understand the significant fear and concern this violence has caused for the affected neighbourhoods and our entire community.”
