Storm Bram is poised to unleash gales of up to 85mph and a torrential downpour, putting 84 areas on high alert.

New weather maps from Ventura indicate that regions including the South West, Dorset, Wales, Lancashire, Cumbria, south-west Scotland and Northern Ireland could be hit with as much as 28mm of rain by 6am on Tuesday. The maps also suggest that 85mph gales are set to batter Wales, the South West and Cumbria by midday.

By noon, heavy rain is expected to shift northwards , with the central belt of Scotland predicted to receive around 15mm of rainfall. The Met Office has issued numerous amber and yellow rain warnings across a large portion of the country for tomorrow.
