IONIA, MI -- Ionia Schools leaders have identified Welch High School Principal Jason Little as the person found dead Wednesday, Dec. 3 in a school building.

Police and school officials have not said how Little died, but police earlier said there was no threat to the community.

Schools Superintendent Ben Gurk confirmed that Little was the person who died to the Ionia Sentinel-Standard.

Little was discovered late Wednesday, Dec. 3 in a school building.

“(Little) leaves behind a remarkable legacy, having positively impacted countless students, colleagues and members of our community,” Gurk wrote in a note. “I personally was blessed to be able to count on him as a trusted friend.”

Little’s obituary indicates he was a teacher for 12 years.
