COLLEGE PARK, Ga. — Firefighters worked to put out a fire at an apartment complex in College Park on Monday evening.

College Park city officials said crews responded one the scene in the 2200 block of Sullivan Road where the Embarcadero Club Apartments are located.

"Preliminarily, we are hearing that a gentleman may have been using candles and those candles may have gotten to close to combustibles. But again, it's under investigation," said College Park Deputy Fire Chief Randy Slaughter.

Slaughter said when they arrived, crews could see smoke and flames. He called the situation a stubborn fire, adding that it was also very windy as fire crews tried to put the flames out. Credit: WXIA
