JONES COUNTY, Miss. (WDAM) - A suspect remains on the run after a high-speed chase Monday afternoon.
The Mississippi Highway Patrol is investigating the incident.
In a statement, Troop H Public Relations Officer Jameka Moore said the incident started as a traffic stop on Interstate 59 near mile marker 107.
During the traffic stop, Moore said a trooper found a felony amount of narcotics inside of a 2001 Chevrolet Silverado.
Two people were inside that Silverado, according to Moore’s statement.
One person was arrested on the scene, and another was handcuffed before hopping behind the wheel of the truck and leading police on a chase.
The suspect stopped in the area of Claiborne Road in Sandersville, about a mile south of the initial traffic stop.
