Hartwick professor analyzes political, gender division of Taylor Swift

A Hartwick College professor was published in new academic paper in the December 2025 edition of the Social Science Quarterly, exploring how the pop culture phenomenon of Taylor Swift mirrors political and gender division in the United States.

Hartwick College political science professor Laurel Elder wrote the paper with Steven Greene, a professor of political science at North Carolina State University, Jeff Gulati, a professor of political science at Bentley University, and Mary-Kate Lizotte, a professor of political science at Augusta University.
