LOUISVILLE, Ky. — Kentucky farmers have been facing challenges since struggling to sell their crops and being hit with rising costs amid President Trump’s tariff increases on China and a broader trade war.
Trump’s aggressive trade policies and ever-changing tariff rates have been scrutinized because of the impact on the country’s agriculture sector.
He announced a $12 billion aid package on Monday with Treasury secretary Scott Bessent.
The plan will include $11 billion which will be set aside for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Farmer Bridge Assistance Program and another $1 billion being held aside for specialty crops.
