WACO, Texas (KWTX) - Robinson High School senior Kamryn Petty is turning a difficult medical journey into a message of hope for other children facing cancer treatment in her new book, “The Nasty Yellow Medicine.”

Since she was diagnosed at 4, her world has been shaped by an optic chiasm glioma, a tumor that left her blind in her right eye and with partial vision in her left eye. Despite the challenges of childhood cancer, Petty has remained grateful.

“I am definitely blessed that God gave me this vision that I still have,” she said.

Instead of letting darkness define her, she put her story on the page. Her new book, “The Nasty Yellow Medicine,” traces her treatment, side effects and overall experience as a childhood cancer patient.
