The “Food is Medicine” (FIM) movement has had a busy fall. Tufts University — home of the Food is Medicine Institute — held its third national summit in Boston this past October, and here at home, the Food Bank Council of Michigan hosted its first statewide meeting in East Lansing, drawing a sizable crowd of agriculture, nutrition and medical experts.

Behind what may sound like a buzzy social media catchphrase —“food is medicine”— lies a paradigm shift happening in healthcare.
