Monday morning, Local 3 received a statement from Stephanie Dalton, mayor of Red Bank, accusing Haynes of violating state law by not providing data directly to their governing body.

Haynes says those accusations are not true, and his office has been using the same methods to determine tax rates since 1989.

"If we didn't provide them with the assessed value for real property and tangible property, I'd have bigger problems than sitting here in front of you having this interview right now,” Haynes says. “The comptroller would've been in my office earlier this year, [asking,] ‘hey, why are you not providing this information?’ By state law, we have to, and we do it.”
