Young people across the country are being warned that they could risk losing their benefits if they refuse training or job opportunities under a government scheme. Work and Pensions Secretary Pat McFadden announced on Sunday that 350,000 new training and workplace opportunities will be offered to young people claiming Universal Credit; however, sanctions may also be applied to those who don't participate.

The government confirmed that a new £820 million funding package will provide new training or workplace opportunities in a variety of sectors, including health and social care, hospitality, and construction, for young people on Universal Credit.
