Isee our Missouri legislators have once again raised the specter of posting the Ten Commandments in our classrooms. They will argue that the Commandments are the basis of our laws. They aren't. Note four of them: You shall have no other gods before me; you shall not make for yourself a carved image; you shall not take the name of the Lord your God in vain; remember the Sabbath day and keep it holy. These four are overtly religious exhortations. Two more — honor your father and your mother and don't covet your neighbor's assets — may be good advice but they aren't laws. kAm%96 @?=J @?6D E92E 2C6 A2CE @7 @FC =2HD 2C6 AC@9:3:E:@?D 282:?DE >FC56C[ DE62=:?8 2?5 362C:?8 72=D6 H:E?6DD] p== @7 E9@D6 2C6 4@>>@?\D6?D6 CF=6D E92E 925 2=C625J 366? :? 6I:DE6?46 7@C J62CD 367@C6 |@D6D 3642FD6 E96 D
