A little more than two years after the Powell Museum and Archives reopened following a four-year closure due to flood damage, the Glen Canyon Conservancy (GCC) announced it planned to list the building for sale in the coming weeks.

GCC and the John Wesley Powell Museum Historical and Archaeological Society Inc. merged into one nonprofit in early 2019, just months before a sewage backup caused the extended closure. The museum was co-founded in 1969 by Stan Jones, a former writer for the Salt Lake Tribune, and run by volunteers for decades prior to the merger of the two nonprofit organizations.
