A Dorchester man was sentenced to up to nine years in prison on Monday for a 2024 “vicious” attack on a homeless woman.

Anthony Dew, 43, was sentenced to seven-and-a-half years to nine years in state prison for the charges of assault and battery and assault and battery causing serious bodily injury and strangulation, according to the Suffolk County District Attorney’s Office .

On Sept. 8, 2024, Dew invited a 51-year-old homeless woman to do drugs at his mother’s house on Evelyn Street where he reportedly raped, strangled, and beat her. Dew then fled the scene, leaving the woman bloody, undressed, and screaming for help in the driveway, the DA says.
