As 2025 comes to a close, Denny's is expected to complete its planned closure of dozens of restaurants around the country.
The beloved diner chain announced that it would be downsizing in October 2024, detailing the closure of 150 lower-performing stores by the end of 2025.
A total of 88 restaurants were already closed by the end of 2024, USA TODAY reported. In a February investors call, Chief Financial Officer Robert Verostek said that between 70 and 90 more would shut down during 2025.
On Nov. 3, Denny's announced that it had been acquired for $620 million and made private, though the company clarified that the decision to shut down locations around the country was not related to the acquisition, the Independent reports . The company plans to open several new restaurants in 2026
