The Skyview boys basketball team leaned on its leadership and experience to navigate multiple tests during the first full week of the season.
The Storm opened their season with an overtime win against Evergreen, and after a loss to Oregon 6A powerhouse Central Catholic on Friday, they came back a day later with a big fourth quarter to beat Columbia River 64-53.
To Skyview coach Matt Gruhler, their ability to battle when not playing their best is reflective of a group that trusts each other and holds each other accountable.
They have experience with six seniors, including fourth-year starter Malakai Weimer, who averaged 27 points per game last week and recently eclipsed 1,000 career points, becoming the fifth player in program history to do so.
