The Winter Meetings are underway in Orlando, Florida, and the Boston Red Sox appear to be in on almost everyon e, from Pete Alonso and Kyle Schwarber to Bo Bichette and Ketel Marte.
While landing a new superstar would be exciting, the Red Sox are still focused on bringing back a familiar face, according to MLB insider Ken Rosenthal.
On Tuesday, Rosenthal provided an update on Boston’s offseason targets for The Athletic (subscription required).
“Free-agent third baseman Alex Bregman still appears to be the Red Sox’s No. 1 target, in part because of the defensive upgrade he provided over Rafael Devers,” Rosenthal wrote.
Bregman, 31, is a free agent after opting out of the remaining two years and $80 million on his deal with Boston. The Red Sox are considered favorites to sign him t
