Osceola County detectives announced on Tuesday that they have solved two cold cases.
Deadly stabbing — 2007
The first case involves De'Andre Nathaniel Wellnitz, a 17-year-old who was stabbed to death in the chest. It all happened during a house party in Kissimmee on June 24, 2007.
The case went cold. However, in October 2024, a person of interest was identified and located in Orlando in September 2025.
The suspect admitted that he was at the party in 2007 and was struck during a fight. That's when he picked up a knife and acted in self-defense.
No charges will be filed, according to officials.
Deadly shooting — 2022
The second case involves 23-year-old Jommil Baez-Quinones, who was shot several times and pronounced dead on the scene.
This shooting happened on Feb. 23, 2022, in Kiss
