EXCLUSIVE: L.A. publisher Gungnir is launching an animation studio that will feed an in-house YouTube channel that planned as “the Cartoon Network of the digital era.”

Gungnir Animation Studio will develop original series and feature films for the Gungnir Animation Network, which the company is billing as a “YouTube-first channel built to be the cultural heartbeat of animation and nerd culture.”

Michael Medney, the Gungnir founder and CEO, has created the animation unit alongside producer Rosa Tran ( Anomalisa , Robot Chicken ), writer Eric W. Phillips ( For All Mankind , The Umbrella Academy ) and VFX supervisor and exec producer Wayne Brinton ( Deadpool , Game of Thrones ).
