An East Ridge man convicted of raping and killing 20-year-old Karen Pulley in 1988 is now asking for his execution to be put on hold.
Harold Wayne Nichols is scheduled to be put to death by lethal injection on Thursday, December 11. Local 3 News will attend the execution in Nashville.

Harold Wayne Nichols is set to be put to death on December 11 for the 1988 rape and murder of a 21-year-old woman from Chattanooga.
However, he is now appealing to the U.S. Supreme Court to pause his execution after the 6th District Court denied his request for a stay. Nichols wants his execution to be put on hold until the Supreme Court reviews the case, and until his ongoing legal challenges are settled.
