The City of Portage la Prairie has launched its annual Holiday Lights Contest, encouraging residents to decorate their properties for a chance to win a city gift package.

The contest was highlighted by Councillor Ryan Espey, Chair of the Community Services Committee, at the final city council meeting of 2025.

“This has been going on for a few years now,” Espey said of the competition. “You can register yourself or someone else before [Wednesday], Dec. 10 on the city’s website in order to enter that contest.”

Following the deadline, a group of judges will select the top five displays on Thursday, Dec. 11. These submissions will then be posted on the City’s official Facebook page for a public vote running from Dec. 12 to 16. The entry with the most votes will win a City of Portage la Prai
