ST. PAUL — Minnesota Secretary of State Steve Simon on Tuesday, Dec. 9, announced a bid for a fourth term.

Simon, 55, of Hopkins, has been the state’s highest-ranking election official since 2014, after serving in the Minnesota House for a decade.

His campaign confirmed with Forum News Service on Tuesday morning that he’s seeking another term in 2026.

Simon has recently pushed back on the Department of Justice’s push to turn over Minnesota’s voter records, citing concerns for sensitive voter data. In the wake of the assassination of Speaker Emerita Melissa Hortman, Simon helped to navigate the conversation around lawmakers’ privacy and safety.
