Area schools are dismissing early Tuesday, Dec. 9, due to anticipated severe winter weather .

The Pine River-Backus School District announced a two-hour early out Tuesday, Dec. 9, on Facebook and on its website, which was confirmed with the district office.

All after-school activities are canceled, including the boys' and girls' basketball games and a Road Crew wrestling meet.

There are no current plans to delay or cancel school Wednesday, Dec. 10. Any updates will be available at prbschools.org , the Pine River-Backus Schools Facebook page, by telephone alert in the morning, on local television channels and local radio stations, and on pineandlakes.com .

The Pequot Lakes School District will release two hours early Tuesday, Dec. 9, due to the forecasted weather conditions.
