A man has been charged over the alleged racial abuse of Bournemouth player Antoine Semenyo during the club's season-opening clash with Liverpool at Anfield . Mark Mogan, 47, was charged with a Racially Aggravated Section 5 Public Order offence, police said today.

The match, on Friday, August 15, was temporarily halted after Semenyo reported the alleged incident to referee Anthony Taylor. He had been about to take a throw-in near the Main Stand at the time.

The game was stopped for several minutes and a man was removed from the ground.

Mogan, of Templehill Close, Dovecot was conditionally bailed and will appear at Liverpool Magistrates Court on Monday, December 22.
