Prison officials moved inmate Harold Wayne Nichols from his death row cell to another room next to the chamber where he is scheduled to be executed by lethal injection.
Nichols, 64, was placed on death watch Dec. 9, Tennessee Department of Correction spokesperson Dorinda Carter said in a noon email.

Prison staff, in these final two days, are inspecting all rooms and equipment in the capital punishment unit. That includes Nichols' new cell, visitation areas, the execution chamber and the lethal injection room where
