Almost 6,000 people were without power across Colorado’s Front Range on Tuesday as wind gusts reaching 90 mph swept through the state, according to outages reported by Xcel Energy and CORE Electric Cooperative.
Xcel Energy crews were responding to power outages across metro Denver and the mountain corridor, including outages impacting 2,514 customers near Idaho Springs and 1,455 customers near Boulder, according to Xcel’s outage map .
Power was restored to all but 369 customers near Idaho Springs as of 11:45 a.m.
Approximately 500 other customers reported additional outages across the metro.
High winds and blowing snow cut power to 1,374 CORE Electric customers, including roughly 1,200 in Park County, the company said on social media.
