A man was found dead inside a Pennsylvania home hours after bullets struck the block overnight, police announced on Tuesday, Dec. 9.

Officers were first called to the 200 block of Walnut Street at 10:14 a.m. for a possible overdose, Columbia Borough Police explained in an updated release. When they arrived, they found a deceased man inside the residence, according to the release.

Investigators later determined the man had been “involved with a shots-fired incident” that happened earlier that morning, around 1:16 a.m. on the same block. Several vehicles and a home were hit by gunfire during the shooting, police said.

Officials did not release details on how the man died. The Lancaster County Coroner responded to the scene.

The investigation is ongoing, but police noted there is "no known danger to the public" at this time.
