COLUMBUS — Legislation prohibiting the sale of most intoxicating hemp products from retail store shelves and making a number of changes to the adult-use marijuana law is on its way to the governor’s desk.
The Ohio Senate voted 22-7 along party lines to approve the conference report on Senate Bill 56 on Tuesday, with Democrats arguing that the bill undermines the will of the voters who approved a ballot measure legalizing marijuana for adults age 21 and older.
While the bill’s hemp provisions largely mirror the recently passed federal law on hemp, S.B. 56 would allow hemp-derived THC beverages to be sold by state liquor permit holders.
