MONROE — An Oregon man is scheduled for sentencing next month after pleading no contest to two felony charges arising from a U.S. 23 crash that killed a pregnant woman.

Hunter Brandon Scott Suto, 24, entered the pleas to operating while intoxicated, causing death, and operating under the influence, causing miscarriage, on Friday before Judge William Nichols in Monroe County Circuit Court.

Kaitlyn Ann Ellison, 32, of Petersburg, Mich., was killed in the May 17 crash on southbound U.S. 23 in Whiteford Township.

According to the Monroe County Sheriff’s Office, Ms. Ellison’s SUV was sideswiped about 10 p.m. by Suto’s car, causing the SUV to careen off the roadway and roll several times on an embankment. Both Ms. Ellison and her unborn child were declared dead shortly thereafter at ProMedica
