LATHAM — Director Kris Anderson has chosen to tackle an uproariously funny show in a style that combines English drawing-room comedy with broad farce. Playwright has crafted a witty farce along the lines of Noel Coward with a tad of Oscar Wilde thrown in. “The Cottage” at Curtain Call Theatre will leave you laughing out loud from almost the opening lines to the final curtain.
In a lovely cottage somewhere outside London in the early summer of 1923, Sylvia and her lover Beau are just about to wind up their once-a-year tryst to return home to their spouses and resume their normal lives. The only issue is that Sylvia has taken it upon herself to telegram her husband that she is leaving him and also messages Beau’s wife that he will be leaving her.
