ALLEN PARISH, La. (KPLC) - An abandoned camp has been removed from along the Ouiska Chitto Creek following concerns from residents and state agencies .
Allen Parish resident Taylor Alexander said the building across from her property had been deteriorating for years and collapsed this summer. Alexander brought her concerns to the Allen Parish Police Jury, which contacted state agencies for help.
The Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries determined that the camp was close to falling into the water, which would have violated the Scenic River Act, and planned to launch an investigation.
Alexander told us today that the camp has been removed. It was not immediately clear whether it had been removed by the owner or another agency.
