Heavy snowfall was expected to hit London and surrounding communities in the wee hours of Wednesday, a storm that Environment Canada expected could continue into the afternoon.

The snowfall warning – colour-coded yellow, the least-severe – was delivered Tuesday evening with a simultaneous warning of freezing drizzle as winter-like cold weather grips the region.

The warnings were for London, Parkhill and eastern Middlesex County.
