BEAUMONT, Texas — The City of Beaumont will mail required water service line notifications to more than 38,000 customers this month as part of a citywide effort to identify lead and other older pipe materials, officials announced.
The annual letters, expected to reach about 38,411 customers in mid-December, are mandated by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency and the Texas Commission on Environmental Quality. They will be sent to homes and businesses where the water service line is listed as lead, galvanized steel that may need replacement, or where the pipe material is unknown.
