OTTAWA — Mark Carney’s Liberal government voted against a non-binding motion brought forward by Conservative Leader Pierre Poilievre even though the text of motion was heavily inspired by Carney’s agreement with Alberta Premier Danielle Smith.

Conservatives were using their last opposition day of the year to force a debate and a vote in the House of Commons Tuesday about the recent deal struck by Ottawa and Alberta to build a new oil pipeline on the West Coast .
