Lawyers for the Trump administration want to block a group of New Hampshire residents from joining their lawsuit seeking access to the Granite State’s voter registration lists.

New Hampshire is among six states sued in federal court Sept. 25 by the U.S. Justice Department’s Civil Rights Division for failure to produce their statewide voter registration lists at the government’s request.

The lawsuits were filed in the federal district courts of the six states — California, Michigan, Minnesota, New York, New Hampshire and Pennsylvania.

The government claims the six states are violating the National Voter Registration Act, the Help America Vote Act and the Civil Rights Act by refusing to provide the department with the unredacted lists. The Justice Department maintains it wants the data to
