Edmonton businesses in the downtown core and in the neighbourhood of Wîhkwêntôwin are looking forward to welcoming old and new customers now that accelerated roadwork for the Valley Line West LRT is complete.

The city announced on Tuesday that 104th Avenue is back to two lanes of traffic in each direction between 105th Street and 121st Street. The stretch of road, bordered by businesses and MacEwan University, has been down to one lane of traffic in each direction since mid-April.

Crews began work to reopen the roadway on Monday.

“We are grand opening again, to be honest with you,” said Lance Montanez, a barista at the Glass Cafe, located at 104th Avenue and 107th Street, which opened in February 2023.
